LATEST FILMING NEWS

Hallam Foe was selected to open the 61st Edinburgh International Film Festival. Critically acclaimed Scottish director David Mackenzie's new film, based on a novel by Peter Jinks, was filmed on location in Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders. Hallam Foe, starring Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) and Sophia Myles (Art School Confidential), spent two weeks at Glen House, as well as days in Innerleithen and Cardrona, before decamping to Edinburgh's Old Town.

Hallam Foe is a darkly funny, bitter-sweet coming-of-age story about a 17-year-old misfit who likes to watch the world from above - initially from a tree house in the ground's of his father's house in the Borders, then from the rooftops of Edinburgh.

After winning a golden bear at the Berlin Film Festival where it had its world premiere, Hallam Foe was picked up for international distribution and fittingly chose Edinburgh for its UK launch. The film goes on general release in the UK on 31 August 2007.

Hugh Gourlay, location manager on Hallam Foe, said: "Filming in the Borders was a challenging but rewarding experience. Scottish Borders Film Focus, the local Council and the Police were all extremely helpful and made a logistically difficult shoot much easier."
